Family First, Business Second
.
As a course instructor, I’ve always emphasized the importance of building strong teams, especially in industries like finance, real estate, and network marketing. However, when my friend approached me to guide a simulation assessment for his family business, I felt a mix of excitement and apprehension.
While working with sales teams can be challenging, guiding a family through this process requires even more compassion and understanding. Family members are more sensitive to one another’s emotional barriers, and it’s important to create a safe and non-judgmental space for them to open up and explore their subconscious patterns and behaviors.
Despite my concerns, my friend reassured me that everything would be fine. So, I dove into the experience with an open heart and a willingness to support each family member in their journey of self-discovery.
As we began the assessment, I was amazed by how open and honest everyone was, despite the emotions and tears that came with it. Each person had their own inner child that needed to be acknowledged and nurtured. Suppressing these feelings would only cause more damage in the long run, both in the simulation and in their personal lives.
It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for deep family bonding and reconciliation. Witnessing their subconscious behaviors through their financial decisions was eye-opening. Whether it was risk-taking, emotional betting, or being overly calculative and conservative, these patterns spoke volumes about each person’s inner struggles and provided a foundation for their growth.
One of my friends in the financial planning industry always says, “Awareness Before Change (ABC).” This sentiment rang true throughout the simulation as each person gained a deeper understanding of themselves and their challenges.
Guiding this family through their transformation was a truly humbling experience. Witnessing their vulnerability and strength, and the love they had for one another, filled my heart with warmth and gratitude. Spending six hours with them was an experience I will always cherish, as I witnessed their version of “family first, business second.”
This session reminded me of the power of love and connection in bringing people together. It’s not just about building a strong team or making a profit, but about creating meaningful relationships and supporting each other through the ups and downs of life. I am grateful for the trust and opportunity to guide this family on their journey, and I look forward to more experiences like this in the future.
